View drawings. Keep your comments.
Quick2D Viewer lets you view PDF, DXF and DWG 2D drawings on iPhone and iPad, add numbered comment pins, and share annotated PDFs.
v1.0 guide · Reviewed October 29, 2026
Supported formats
DXF
View the 2D model space of ASCII (text) DXF files. Binary DXF is not supported.
DWG
Read R11/R12, R14, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2018 save formats. R13 and unknown save formats are not supported. Full reproduction of all entities is not guaranteed.
Newer CAD applications may also use the 2018 save format (AC1032); this does not imply support for their custom objects. Compare CAD drawings with the source CAD or a reference PDF.
Open a drawing
Choose a file
Tap “Open file” on the home screen and select a PDF, DXF or DWG. Wait for files in iCloud Drive or other cloud storage to finish downloading first.
Inspect the drawing
Pinch to zoom and drag to pan. Use “Fit drawing” to reset the view. Switch pages to inspect a multi-page PDF.
Open it again
Use “Recent files” on the home screen to reopen an imported drawing. Tap the × at the top left to close the drawing.
Save comments
Tapping “Save” stores comments inside the app. The original PDF, DXF or DWG is not modified. Reopen the same document from “Recent files” to see its saved comments.
- Importing the same original again creates a separate document. Existing comments are not transferred automatically.
- Removing a drawing from recent files deletes its in-app copy and comments. Deleting the app also removes its local data.
- Export an annotated PDF before deleting anything you want to keep or share. Opening the original file on another device does not transfer these comments.
- If loading or saving comments fails, review the error before continuing. The app does not automatically reset a damaged comment file.
Export & share PDFs
Create the PDF
Tap “Share PDF” below the drawing. The output includes comment numbers on the drawing and a list of numbers, drawing pages and comment text.
Choose a destination
In the iOS share sheet, choose “Save to Files” or another destination. Available destinations depend on your device and installed apps.
Check the output
Open the PDF and check the numbers, list and required pages. If the view is cropped, try “Fit drawing”.
For PDF sources, all pages are exported and a comment list is appended. For DXF and DWG, currently visible layers are fitted to one model-space page, followed by the list. Long lists continue onto additional pages. CAD output is an approximate fit-to-page view; true-scale printing and manufacturing scale are not guaranteed.
CAD display limitations
The app views PDF, DXF and DWG files, but does not replace a full CAD application. Read display warnings and compare important geometry, dimensions and text with the source CAD or a reference PDF.
- Hatching
- HATCH fills and patterns are not supported and are not displayed.
- Dimensions
- Saved dimension blocks are displayed. Dimension values are not recalculated and DIMSTYLE is not fully reproduced. Dimensions without saved blocks cannot be shown.
- Text and Japanese characters
- CAD fonts such as SHX are approximated using system fonts. Placement, MTEXT wrapping, line spacing and formatting may differ.
- External references (XREF)
- References are not loaded automatically or fetched from the network. Bind required references in the source CAD application before saving.
- Layouts and paper space
- Only model space is displayed. Layout and paper-space entities are not shown.
- Other CAD entities
- Attributes, dynamic blocks, 3D entities, polyline widths and complex line types have limitations. Measurement and unit conversion are not available.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I open a file?
Renaming an extension does not convert a file. Damaged or unsupported files cannot be opened. Import limits are 20 MiB for DWG, 50 MiB for DXF and 500 MiB for PDF. Entity counts and device memory can prevent opening even below these limits. Check the download and save format, then try exporting ASCII DXF or PDF from the source CAD application.
Why are lines, dimensions or text missing or different?
See “CAD display limitations”. Unsupported entities and font differences may affect the result. Absence of a warning does not guarantee full reproduction. Check important details in the source CAD or a reference PDF.
Where are my comments?
Open the document you commented on from “Recent files”. Reimporting the same original creates a separate document. Deleting a recent file or the app removes its locally stored comments.
Can I reopen the shared PDF to edit the original comments?
The exported PDF shares drawing numbers and a comment list. It is not a transfer or synchronization format for editable comment data. Continue editing in the original document stored inside the app.
Can I share a password-protected PDF?
Export is available after unlocking the PDF if printing is permitted. Encryption, signatures and original password protection are not guaranteed to carry over to the output. Check the content and who can access it before sharing.

Comment pins
Add
Tap “Add pin”, then tap a location on the drawing or PDF page. Enter the comment and tap “Save”. A blank comment cannot be saved.
Edit
Tap a pin on the drawing or an entry in “Comments”, update the text, then tap “Save”.
Delete
Tap “Delete comment” in the comment editor. Deleted numbers are not reused, so gaps in numbering are expected.
Pins are stored in PDF page coordinates or DXF/DWG model coordinates and follow zooming and panning. Numbers are unique across the document; PDF locations are managed per page.
